Greetings from the CES President
It is for me a great pleasure to present this web page from EXTREMADURA'S ECONOMIC AND SOCIAL COUNCIL (CES) an official collective consultancy organism that I have the honor to preside.
The Economic and Social Council of Extremadura was created by the Law 3/1991, of April 25, which configure it as a consultative organ of the regional Extremadura´s Government in matters of economic and social relevance being included in the competences of this Autonomous Community. For the fulfillment of its purposes, the Council (CES in its Spanish acronym) has its own legal personality and full capacity, besides an organic and functional autonomy. The CES main activity consists of precise fulfilling the functions that the law entrusted it to accomplish, such as organ advising to the regional Government, and the proceedings to elaborate the Extremadura´s Economic and Social Annual Report that we are introducing here for a wider diffusion through this website.
Everything changes and although we sometimes cannot understand or we wouldn´t like to admit, we are in the middle of a process, changing its shapes and with different time or space scales, but a process, at last, that it is not the end of nothing: We are just an intermediate generation inserted in a thousand years long history. Future ask for a new way to evaluate the externalities and services that human work on nature provides us. Every task related with products consumption, soil uses and occupancy, contamination, recycling processes and so on, should be considered part of the economic system. That means a greater international solidarity, bigger social efforts and a will to reduce our consuming standards in order to let other countries could reach at least ethically accepted minimal levels.
The Extremadura´s CES is humbly committed to contribute with our efforts to deepen in our diffusion and mediation tasks. Reality knowledge improves the
decision-making process and gives, hence, better results. Furthermore when we are talking about situations in which Social Dialogue is a must to look for solutions for the crises. We have a great challenge that we are sure we could win by growing in efficiency, competitiveness and quality of life.
